The Story of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.): Safeguarding Trust

My blessed Friday congregants,

Let us elevate our taqwa towards Allah (s.w.t.) by obeying all His commands and abstaining from all His prohibitions. May we become His servants who achieve success in this world and the Hereafter. Amin.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Alhamdulillah, we are now in the blessed month in which our Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) was born. He was a person who tirelessly strived to spread the religion of Islam. His journey of preaching was not easy and was filled with various trials and tribulations. His unwavering commitment in fulfilling the trust placed upon him by the Creator was enough to keep him going and not give up.

The Prophet (s.a.w.) encountered a thousand and one tests in carrying out his responsibilities. Some strongly rejected his call to Islam, turning friends into foes and severing relationships. Despite being called "al-Amin" which means “the Trustworthy” in the past, he was still subjected to insults and ridicule.

Yet, the Prophet (s.a.w.) remained patient in the face of adversity.  He did not negatively respond to the wrongs done to him, even after Allah granted him victory. Instead, he chose forgiveness over enmity. He returned trust to those who deserved it. Let us observe Allah's command to the Prophet (s.a.w.) regarding trust:

Which means: "Indeed, Allah commands you to return trusts to their rightful owners; and when you judge between people, judge with fairness. What a noble commandment from Allah to you! Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing." (Surah al-Nisa’, verse 58).

Brothers and sisters,

Indeed, Allah (s.w.t.) will hold each of us accountable for the responsibilities we have been entrusted with. The story of the Prophet (s.a.w.) that I have shared with you today serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding the trust placed upon us. Let us keep in mind the Prophet's (s.a.w.) saying in his hadith:

Which means: "Faith is not complete for one who is not trustworthy, and there is no religion for one who does not fulfill his promises." [Hadith narrated by Imam al-Bayhaqi].

Faith and trustworthiness are inseparable, like the pillars of a strong building. When the pillars weaken, the building collapses. 

Brothers and sisters,

Each of us has been entrusted with responsibilities in our respective fields. Some of us have been given the privilege to work remotely from home, while others have been granted permission to perform their Friday prayers. It is our sacred duty to preserve the trust and responsibility given to us.

Let us strive to emulate our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) in both character and deeds, as guided by the Qur'an. As we commemorate the noble month of Rabiul Awal, the month in which we remember the Prophet (s.a.w.) by reading his Seerah and celebrating his birth, let us all make a conscious effort to make the Prophet (s.a.w.) our ultimate example and role model.

This should serve as a motivation for us to perform acts of worship, increase our good deeds, and fulfil our tasks and responsibilities to the best of our abilities. Let us enhance our religious knowledge and skills to stay on the righteous path. Hopefully, by doing so, we will benefit ourselves, our families, and our community. 

Remember, my brothers and sisters, among Allah's attributes are His All-Seeing and All-Knowing nature. There is no good or evil that we do that escapes His knowledge.

May we become faithful and trustworthy servants of Allah. May Allah grant us love for Him and His Prophet. Amin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin.

أَقُوْلُ قَوْلِي هَذَا وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ العَظِيْمَ لِي وَ لَكُمْ، فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْم

 

Khutbah Kedua

الحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا كَمَا أَمَرَ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَن لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ. أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَيَا عِبَادَ الله، اِتَّقُوا اللهَ تَعَالَى فِيمَا أَمَرَ، وَانتَهُوا عَمَّا نَهَاكُم عَنْهُ وَزَجَرَ.

أَلَا صَلُّوا وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ الْمُصْطَفَى، فَقَدْ أَمَرَنَا اللهُ بِذَلِكَ حَيْثُ قَال فِي كِتَابِهِ العَزِيزِ: إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَـا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسلِيمًا. اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَ بَارِكْ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ.

وَارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنِ الخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ المَهْدِيِّينَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيِّ، وَعَن بَقِيَّةِ الصَّحَابَةِ وَالقَرَابَةِ وَالتَّابِعِينَ، وَتَابِعِي التَّابِعِينَ، وَعَنَّا مَعَهُم وَفِيهِم بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالمُؤْمِنَاتِ، وَالمُسْلِمِينَ وَالمُسْلِمَاتِ، الأَحْيَاءِ مِنهُم وَالأَمْوَاتِ. اللَّهُمَّ ادْفَعْ عَنَّا البَلَاءَ وَالوَبَاءَ وَالزَّلَازِلَ وَالمِحَنَ، مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ، عَن بَلَدِنَا خَاصَّةً، وَسَائِرِ البُلْدَانِ عَامَّةً، يَارَبَّ العَالَمِينَ. رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ. 

عِبَادَ اللهِ، إِنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالعَدْلِ وَالإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي القُرْبَى، وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الفَحْشَاءِ وَالمُنكَرِ وَالبَغْيِ، يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ، فَاذكُرُوا اللهَ العَظِيمَ يَذْكُركُمْ، وَاشْكُرُوهُ عَلَى نِعَمِهِ يَزِدكُمْ، وَاسْأَلُوهُ مِن فَضلِهِ يُعطِكُم، وَلَذِكرُ اللهِ أَكبَرُ، وَاللهُ  يَعلَمُ مَا تَصنَعُونَ.
